Secure your business with an SSL Certificate

on | 0 comments

To be the owner of a successful business, you need to win your clients trust and loyalty. Therefore, to have a successful business website means that you need a website that can instill trust. The easiest way to do that is to get an SSL certificate protection for your domain and make sure your visitor's data is safely stored.

In reference to the new GDPR legislation which came into force on May 25th, 2018, the SSL certificate became a necessary requirement for businesses processing personal data.

The SSL abbreviature in SSL Certificate stands for Secure Socket Layer is a type of Internet data transmission protocol, used for encryption. The SSL allows secure connections from a web server to a browser. This is an excellent modern security option at an affordable price.

Most of the internet users are unaware of what an SSL certificate does, but they can clearly see the green padlock in their address bar, or even better the full-on green colorization of the bar. In reference to the information above we should mention that there are 3 types of SSL certificates:

  • Domain Validated Certificate

This is the low- cost type of SSL. It should never be used for commercial purposes because it is a high-risk certificate for a public website.

It is recommended these types of certificates to be used where security is required but is not a leading factor, for example, it might be used as a protection for company internal systems.

  • Organization Validated Certificate

Organisation verification certificates are highly required for business purposes. Business websites usually contain legitimate business information which should be strictly protected. Therefore, this is the standard type of certificate required to be used on a commercial or public facing website.

  • Extended Validated Certificate

Nothing provides more trust and protection than Extended Validated Certificate. The verified company name displayed at the green bar helps distinguish the site from phishing or impostor sites.Visitors feel safety because they can visually see that the website is run by your company and they are not worried about conducting communication and financial transactions. It is extremely difficult to impersonate or phish an Extended Validated Certificate enabled site as even if web content can be duplicated, the Green Bar cannot be triggered without a trusted EV certificate.

If you want your business to be protected and step ahead of competitors better implement an SSL Certificate as a cyber security measure. This will have a guaranteed positive impact on customers.
